Professional's Portfolio PictureProfessional's Portfolio PictureIntroduction

I am a qualified and experienced person centred counsellor with membership of the BACP. I studied for my degree with UCS (University Campus of Suffolk) here in Norfolk. I continue to study in my chosen field for the therapeutic benefit of my clients.
I have gained experience during my training and as a voluntary counsellor from working for charitable agencies such as CRUSE, YMCA, medical practice and the Benjamin Foundation. I have worked with clients from the age of 14yrs to 80yrs on a large range of issues. I have a lot of life experience along with a great compassion for people. This means that I have a wealth of experience to offer my clients.
Presently, I work in private practice and as a youth worker. I work from my home which is situated in a very peaceful part of Stalham where I see clients in my conservatory which looks out onto my extremely private garden.
I work with all ages and a broad spectrum of issues including:- young people, bereavement, loss, addiction, mental health issues, relationship difficulties, couples (all orientations), abuse, self esteem, self worth, self harm etc
Bereavement: - I provide a safe environment for clients to explore their bereavement and feelings of grief and loss. It may be necessary to explore how you learned to cope with loss to enable you to understand why the grief has become overwhelming.
Couples counselling: - I use the theories of Charles O’ Leary and person centeredness to offer a supportive and non judgmental environment to both parties, facilitating the opportunity for both parties to be listened to, understood and explore how to heal the relationship and feel close again.
Young people (aged 14 onwards):- I offer the young client the independent and impartial nurturing relationship with the core conditions of the person centred approach. I feel I am as accountable to the young person as with an adult client. Apart from safe guarding issues the sessions are confidential.
Mindfulness: - I have recently studied Mindfulness and found it so helpful with ‘letting go’ the negative thoughts that our minds throw at us. I aim to meditate most days and have found this very beneficial to my health, stress levels and sleeping pattern. I am going on to study Compassionate Mindfulness which helps us to be compassionate to the self (particularly those of us who have been brought up in a harsh and critical environment), reduces those negative thoughts we have about ourselves and that awful critical voice to self that keeps bringing us down. I aim to bring this to sessions where possible and appropriate.
To discuss your issues you will be offered the following opportunities;
• A safe presence,
• To be listened to,
• A confidential, non-judgemental space,
• Be offered respect and acceptance,
• To make your own decisions.
